Journalists organise candlelight vigil to mourn Bukhari’s assassination

Senior Journalists describes Shujaat Bukhari as “martyr of journalism”

Srinagar, Jul 02 : The Kashmir Working Journalists Association (KWJA) on Monday evening organized a candlelight vigil to express solidarity with late Syed Shujaat Bukhari who was assassinated on 14 June outside his office in Srinagar.
The solidarity event was organised in collaboration with Kashmir Television Journalists Association, Kashmir Journalists Association and Video Journalists Association and other independent media professionals.
By 7 pm. scores of journalists gathered outside the Press Club, Polo View Srinagar, and lit candles to show solidarity with the slain editor.
Several journalists made speeches to throw light on the life and work of late Bukhari, the founder editor of Rising Kashmir, Buland Kashmir, Parcham and Sangarmal newspapers.
Senior Journalists while describing Bukhari as “martyr of journalism” demanded strict action against the assassins of late Bukhari.
Journalist Majid Hyderi raised several questions over the manner in which investigation in the Bukhari murder case was being carried out.
Later, a condolence prayer was also held  during which the participants of candle light vigil prayed for the departed soul.
