Forces go berserk in Pulwama village during 4 hour long night raid
Srinagar: People in Rohmoo village in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district were Wednesday left terrified and bruised as government forces allegedly thrashed them and vandalized their properties, during a four hour long nocturnal raid last night.
At least seven youth have also been arrested in the village and are still under detention, sources said.
The locals alleged that the government forces-including army and the police-reached the village at about mid night on Tuesday.
“They barged into homes and started thrashing whatever came their way, including people,” the locals alleged, adding that even elderly, women and the children were not spared.
The raid, as per villagers, continued till four in the morning as the forces continued to be on a rampage.
“At least seven youth have also been detained during the raid, who are yet to be released,” the locals said.
SSP Pulwama, Chaudhry Muhammad Aslam, acknowledged that a raid was conducted and some “miscreants” have been detained.
“Some miscreants in Rohmoo do not allow any vehicle to pass through the village. Yesterday they had pelted stones at an army party,” Aslam said, adding that some “miscreants” had been identified and detained.
He said that the concerned SHO has been sent to the village to investigate allegations of vandalism leveled by the locals.
“Appropriate action will be taken if the allegations are found to be true,” he said.(Agencies)
