Cop hands over bag with Rs 90,000 in cash to owner

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday said an honest policeman has handed over a bag containing Rs 90,000 cash to its owner.

A police spokesperson said that on Monday during naka checking at Qamerwari a policeman Umar Mushtaq found a bag containing Rs 90,000.

“Subsequently, he informed his duty officer who in turn conveyed it to the Incharge police post Qamerwari,” he said.

He said that in the meantime a person namely Abdul Aziz Malla, a resident of New Colony Palpora came to the police post for reporting the loss of bag containing cash.

“After proper verification the amount was handed over to him. It is apt to mention here that the person has recently retired from Department of Srinagar Municipal Corporation and this was his pension amount. The said person expressed his gratitude to the policeman for the act of honesty,” the police spokesperson said.

He added: “General public have highly appreciated the honesty and prompt action of police.”(Agencies)
