‘Body to be handed over once DNA report is received: DGP
Srinagar, July 20, CNS: Police shower pepper spray to disperse protesters at Barzullah here on Friday seeking the body of the local youth who according to them was killed in Kupwara gunfight on June 30 last month.
Pertinently, the army on June 30 evening claimed to have killed an unidentified militant in an encounter at Tunga Top forest area of Kachama Handwara.
The Barzulla family later on claimed that the militant killed in the gunfight is their son Mudasir Ahmad Bhat (31) son of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat of Nasti Mohalla, Old Barzullah.
Mudasir according to family had gone to Saudi Arabia in 2016.
The family members have been protesting from past three weeks demanding the body of Mudasir. “Even the State Governor had assured legislator Engineer Rasheed that body will be handed over to family, but nothing changed on ground. We have been protesting in vain as authorities particularly police are unmoved,” the sister of slain youth told CNS.
Protesters blocked road on Barzulla Bridge prompting police to use pepper spray to disperse the protesters.
Meanwhile, Jammu Kashmir Police Chief SP Vaid said that the body will be handed over to the family once they receive DNS report. “As soon will receive DNA report, we will hand over the body to family,” Vaid said. (CNS)
