New Delhi, July 21 : A total of 179 teachers have been transferred , allegedly due to personal reasons, in Delhi government schools vide Directorate of Education (DoE) order dated July 5, a move which is being opposed by Shikshak Nyay Manch.
The forum has written a letter to Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who also holds education portfolio, in this connection. The letter states that the recommendation of transfers of teachers is being done in a partial manner and alleged that due to personal reasons, Principal or Head of Schools are transferring these teachers.
‘The order has put teachers under threat and is promoting flattery and sycophancy. Quality of teaching would also be affected,’ stated Pradeep Dagar, President of Shikshak Nyay Manch.
‘The transfers have nothing to do with the results and performance of teachers,’ the letter added.
It also asked the Education minister to revoke the order which powers the school principals to recommend transfers of teachers.
On June 23, 2017, Directorate of Education issued a notification, ordering that the principal/vice-principal/head of school may recommend the transfer of three teachers in an academic session out of their school, a notification, issued by the Directorate of Education on June 23, 2017,
The forum demanded that a committee be informed to look into the transfer policy as many discrepancies have been found. The teachers, who were eligible under transfer policy, could not be transferred. Only handful of teachers got transferred.
