Bihar Assembly adjourned on the issue of sexual exploitation at short stay home
Patna, Jul 24 : The pre-lunch session of Bihar Assembly was paralysed today after Opposition members created ruckus in the House over sexual exploitation of inmates at short stay home in Muzaffarpur.
As soon as speaker Vijay Kumar Chaudhary made an announcement about commencement of the question hour, CPI (ML) members carrying placards stormed into the well of house and started raising slogans.
Amid bedlam, leader of opposition Tejaswi Yadav said that the issue of sexual exploitation of inmates at Muzaffarpur`s short stay home was very serious.
He said that the administration was hesitant in taking action and whatever action had been taken, it was done on the court`s order.
He accused government of shielding accused in the case and said that rapes of 29 girls had been confirmed so far.
Mr Yadav said that criminals had been given free hand to commit crimes in ‘sushashan’ (good governance) adding that government has no control over law and order situation.
He also referred to recent incidents of molestation and rapes in Jehanabad, Nalanda and Gaya.
He questioned chief minister Nitish Kumar`s claim that girls could move around even in mid night when the reality was just opposite of it as they were not safe even with their guardians.
He said that the adjournment motion on the issue should be immediately accepted, paving way for discussion on it in the House.
