Two civilians, bank guard injured during bank loot attempt in Kulgam: Police
Srinagar, Jul 27 : Two civilians and a bank guard sustained injuries on Friday after militants tried to loot bank in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, police said.
Police said that the people in Mohanpora area of District Kulgam today foiled looting of a bank by militants in the area.
“In the afternoon, militants barged inside a branch of J&K Bank at Mohanpora in district Kulgam with the intention to loot the bank,” Police spokesman said in a statement issued to KNS.
He however said that people resisted the attempt of the militants and forced them to flee from the spot. “Infuriated by this, militants fired resulting in injuries to two civilians and a bank guard,” he said, adding that “no cash was looted from the bank.”
“One civilian sustained injury on his arm while the other got injured in his leg,” he added.
Police said that they were subsequently shifted to a nearby hospital for medical attention. “Soon Police reached the spot and initiated investigation in the instant matter,” police said.
