Srinagar, Aug 1 : A body of 36-year-old man was recovered from river Jehlum near Maisuma area of Srinagar city on Wednesdayevening.
A police officer told GNS that some persons spotted the body in the river Jehlum and informed the police accordingly. In the meantime, a police team reached the spot and retrieved the body.
The officer identified the deceased as Hilal Ahmad Wani son of Mohd Abdullah of Illahi Bagh, Soura.
After conducting all legal medico formalities the body of the deceased has been handed over to the family for last rites, he said.
He said that a case under 174 CrPc has been registered and further investigations were taken up to ascertain the cause of drowning which led to his subsequent death. (GNS)
