Article 35-A: Protests held at various places
Srinagar, Aug 03 : To show unity over ‘guarding’ the State Subject Law, the people on Friday staged protest against what they termed as the threat to Article 35-A.
Soon after the end of Friday congregational prayers, people at several places staged a protest against the abrogation of Article 35-A.
Holding banners and placards, the protesters demanded safety of Article 35-A.
Hurriyat Conference (G) staged a protest at Jamia Masjid Hyderpora here and chanted slogans in favour of Article 35-A.
Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq led a protest after the culmination of Friday prayers at historic Jamia Masjid in old city here to protest against the move what they call is aimed to change the demography of the State.
Jammu and Kashmir Liberation front (JKLF) chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik also led a protest here at Abi Guzar Bund to protest against the scrapping of Article 35-A.
Meanwhile, the business community in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district also staged a protest march against attempts to abrogate Article 35-A.
The Anantnag traders under the banner of Traders’ Association Anantnag assembled at Lal-Chowk and marched towards Court Road while shouting slogans and holding placards.
The protest was also held in Poonch area where the locals assembled outside the Masjid and chanted slogans in favour of Article 35-A.
