Army pays tribute to slain soldier
Srinagar, Aug 4,: Army Saturday paid tribute to Late Sowar (Swr) Vijay Kumar who was killed in Sopore gunfight on August 3 this month. Two militants were also killed in the gun battle that had raged at Druso village of the town.
In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lt Gen AK Bhatt, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks, paid homage to the slain soldier. In a show of solidarity, representatives from other security agencies also joined in to pay their last respects to the martyr.
Late Sowar (Swr) Vijay Kumar had sustained bullet injury. He was provided immediate first aid and evacuated to the 92 Base Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Sowar (Swr) Vijay Kumar, was 31 years old and had joined the Army in 2004. He belonged to Village Uttaper of Naina Devi Tehsil in Bilaspur District, Himachal Pradesh and is survived by his wife and two sons.
