Rijiju to take stock of flood situation in Nagaland on Sunday
New Delhi, Aug 4 : In order to take stock of flood and landslides situation in Nagaland, Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju will visit the state on Sunday.
He will be accompanied by a team of officers from National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), an official statement said.
The team will visit the flood and landslides affected areas of Dimapur and Kohima and review the search, rescue and relief measures taken by the state government and other agencies with Chief Minister Neiphu Rao, the Chief Secretary and other senior officers of the state administration.
During the current season, various parts of the Nagaland are reported to have been affected by heavy rains and landslides at various places.
A team of NDRF consisting of 35 rescuers with essential rescue equipment has already been deployed in Nagaland to assist the administration in the relief and rescue operation as well as distribution of essential relief material and to provide medical support to affected people at the time of emergency.
Two Air Force helicopters have also been deployed in Nagaland for assisting the administration in lifting and dropping of essential commodities.
