Article-35A row: JR Leaders placed under house arrest, Malik detained

Srinagar: Chairmen of Hurriyat Conference factions Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwiaz Umer Farooq were placed under house arrest while JKLF Chief Mohammad Yasin Malik was arrested today as Valley is observing a complete shutdown against the assault on special status of Jammu and Kashmir.

While Syed Ali Geelani was confined to his Hyderpora residence, Mirwaiz was placed under house arrest at his Nigeen home since early morning in a bid to stop them from leading protests over the assault on Article-35A, reports said.
Malik, another senior leader of the joint resistance leadership was detained this morning by cops.
Last night, cops raided Malik’s Maisuma residence but he was not present there.
Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai was also put under house arrest by the cops.
Meanwhile, four activists of Geelani led Hurriyat faction were arrested in Humhama area.
