Heavy rains inundate Bilal-abad Tral, locals alleged authority’s apathy

TRAL : The heavy rainfall during night hours has inundated Bilal-abad area of Tral in South Kashmir, creating problems for locals particularly school going students.
Locals said that they are facing inconveniences due to lack of drainage facilities in and around the Bilal-abad area.
They said that, whenever it rains, the area faces water-logging, which create mess among local residents.
“It is very sad and unfortunate that rainy water always submerges our area with no intervention from authorities,” a local Abdul Majeed said, adding that they are suffering from many problems as the area is always being water logged.
The locals also said that they many times requested concerned authorities and MLA Tral to intervene but no concrete step is being taken in this regard.
Executive officer Municipal committe Tral, Mohammad Ismail, when contacted, said that, they are getting less funds from higher authorities, due to which they are not able to undertake all the works in the town at a time.
He said that urban areas are getting less funds as compared to rural areas and assured that once the funds will be received, work shall be instantly started in the area to mitigate the problems of people.
