Tsering Samphel, others from Leh support Muzaffar Shah in defending Art 35-A

‘Constitution gives protection to our properties’

Srinagar, Aug 14 : Awami National Conference (ANC) on Tuesday said that Tsering Samphel Ex MLA Leh, former President Dist Congress Committees Leh, former President Ladakh Buddhist Association and former Member National Commission for Scheduled Tribes GOI has welcomed an initiative taken by the Civil Society of the State to protect Art 35A.
The statement issued to KPS reads that he has conveyed his support to in favour of retention of 35-A through ANC senior vice president Muzafar Shah.
While defending the Art 35 A, he said “it gives protection to our properties and confer many special privileges to its residents. If it is gone, Ladakh particularly Leh District shall be the first victim of its repercussions.”
He further slammed the lofty promises of BJP made for Ladakh region.
He also said BJP had promised UT for Ladakh in six months of its coming into power at the Centre in 2014, Bhoti language will be included in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution and the reopening of Kailash Mansrovar in Tibet through Ladakh for pilgrimage and trade.
He said on such promises Ladakhis voted in favour of BJP candidate to the Lok Sabha seat but none of the promises were fulfilled till date. Leaving the high expectations from BJP aside instead, the very existence of Ladakhis are at stake as Art 35A has been challenged in the Supreme court of India with full throttle.
