Instead of deferring petitions against Art 35-A, Center should work for its total dismissal: Hakeem Yaseen

Srinagar, Aug 31 (PR): Observing that the spontaneous manifestation of anger by the people of the state against attempts to scrap Article 35-A of the Constitution of India was an eye opener to the corridors of power at Ce6, Chairman PDF and MLA Khansahib Hakeem Yaseen has said that tinkering with it shall have disastrous implications for the whole country. He has hoped that better sense would prevail on the Indian leadership to work for total dismissal of the all petitions pending in Supreme court against Art.35-A without wasting any time.
In a statement to KPS, Hakeem Yaseen said that the central leadership must read writing on the wall that almost all the mainstream political parties, social and civil society groups in all the three regions of the state are equally concerned over the issue of Article 35-A and are united to fight any tide against it. He said people in the state know that Art.35-A was necessary for their survey and very existence as the Law provides constitutional guarantee to the hereditary state subject rights of the people. He has expressed optimism that keeping in view the sensitivity of the issue, Center would, without wasting any time, work for total dismissal of petitions against Article 35-A.

Hakeem Yaseen has said that the center should keep national interests atop than keeping the Article 35-A case lingering on for petty political gains. He said by seeking deferment of the case against Article 35-A in SC on the pretext of proposed Panchayat elections in the state, doubts have been raised about the sincerity of the central leadership on the issue. He said deferment of the petition against Article 35-A in SC for holding Panchayat elections in the state have created much more uncertainty among the people on the issue. He said there are no takers for this excuse theory as the people of the state want nothing less than protection of the Article 35-A at any cost.
Hakeem Yaseen has cautioned the Centre about the disastrous implications of tinkering with the Art.356 adding that Center should rethink on its present policy of electoral victory on the issue of Article 35-A. He said by deferring the petition against Article 35-A once again, the sword of uncertainty has been kept hanging, which shall have negative effect on the overall socio- economic and political fields.
