841 new Scheduled Caste teachers to work in Kashmir

Srinagar:As many as 841 Scheduled Caste (SC) teachers, including women, from Jammu are going to work in the violence-plagued belts of the Kashmir valley. They have been selected against the posts reserved for SCs in the Kashmir division.
The decision of these newly inducted teachers to serve in Kashmir is significant due to the deteriorating situation there. Youth from Jammu usually avoid applying for posts in the Valley due to the fear factor.
The J&K Service Selection Board (JKSSB) recently issued the selection list of teachers for different districts of the state. Of the selected, 841 SC candidates have been “provisionally selected” for all 10 districts of the Valley.
“We are hopeful that our Muslim brethren will provide all support to the SC teachers who have opted to serve in the Valley,” said RK Kalsotra, convenor of the Confederation of SC-ST-OBC Associations. He said their decision to teach in the Valley will cement relations between the two regions of the state.
“On September 9, we are going to hold a conference of ST, SC and OBC employees in Srinagar to strengthen amity among employees of all regions of the state,” Kalsotra said.
