JKEF hails Govt’s decision to extend group mediclaim policy to journalists
Srinagar, Sep 13 (PR): Haling the Jammu and Kashmir government’s announcement of extension of group mediclaim health insurance scheme to accredited journalists of the state, Jammu and Kashmir Editors Forum on Thursday said “the announcement will benefit the Kashmiri journalists in a long way.”
A statement issued here said the forum held a meeting here today under the chairmanship of body’s convener where all the members appreciated the announcement.
The members termed the move as a big relief to the journalists who are working under immense pressure and risks in the profession.
The body also demanded an insurance policy for all the working journalist of Jammu and Kashmir so that all would avail such benefits.
JKEF also asked government to pay attention towards the needs of state based newspapers in terms of advertisement and other policy matters.
On Wednesday the state government announced group mediclaim scheme for accredited journalist in the state.
Under the scheme an accredited journalist along with five members of his or her family will be covered under a health insurance cover of Rs 6 lakh per annum at the yearly premium as admissible to the state government employees, an official spokesman said.
