Casual Labourers of Forest Department hold protest in Srinagar

Srinagar: The Casual Labourers of Forest Department on Wednesday held a protest demonstration here in Srinagar demanding release of their pending wages and implementation of SRO 520.

Scores of casual labourers from various districts of Kashmir valley assembled here in press enclave and raised slogans in favour of their “genuine” demands.

The protesters said that they are working in the Forest Department from last 14 years and government is not releasing their pending wages in time.

Syed Ghulam Geelani, General Secretary of EJAC third front said, There are nearly 7000 casual labourers working in the Forest Department of Kashmir valley.

“We demand their wages should be released which are pending from 7 to 9 months, we also demand the wages as per Labour Act of the state,” he said.

The protesters requested the governor of the state to look into the matter.
