Kashmir police issues traffic advisory after curbs create chaos
Srinagar 19 Sep : Police on Wednesday issued traffic advisory after the curbs imposed to scuttle the traditional 8th Muharram procession led to chaos and outrage in this capital city.
In a statement issued here, a police spokesman issued travel advisory for the commuters for ‘maintaining peace’ in the city.
The spokesman said that in view of the restrictions imposed under section 144 CrPC today in the Srinagar city in the areas falling under police station Shaheedgunj,Batmaloo,Shergiri,Kothibagh,Ram Munshi Bagh Maisuma & Kralkhud to regulate Muharram processions, certain roads leading towards these areas have been blocked.
“For the information of general public following cutt-offs have been established & certain roads have been blocked as mentioned below,” the spokesperson said.
From Bemina traffic is diverted towards highway & no traffic is allowed towards Batmaloo.
All lanes from Chattabal leafing towards Qamarwari/Batmaloo have been blocked.
Road adjoining Bemina-Qamarwari crossing are blocked.
Cut-off points are established at Haba Kadal bridge from Kralkhud side.
Lanes towards Karfali mohalla are blocked.
Zaldagar bye-lane towards Bund are blocked.
Traffic coming from East-Zone(Maisuma/Kothibagh/Kralkhud) is diverted at R K crossing towards Abdullah bridge.
All traffic coming from East Zone towards Hari Singh High Street is blocked from Amira Kadal Gurdawara side.
All traffic coming from East Zone towards Jehangir Chowk is from Nudshah Bridge Maisuma side.
Cut-off points are established at Nawab Nazar side to block the vehicular movement towards SMHS side.
Cut-off at Gol-Chakri Ram Munshi Bagh.
Cut off at Nehrupark for all traffic towards Dalgate.
Cut off at RK(Radio Kashmir )crossing towards MA road & road diversion towards Rajbagh.
Cut-off at SRTC bridge also.
General public are advised to avoid these roads today as cutt-offs have been established & certain roads blocked.
