Excise team foils cement smuggling attempts from Punjab, imposes Rs 483900 penalty
Srinagar, Sep 20 : In a sustained and continuous endeavor to check smuggling of cement into the State, Excise Sleuths of Toll Post Lakhanpur foiled various attempts of smuggling cement into the State from neighboring State Punjab in the past ten days and recovered Rs. 4,83,900 as Penalty from the toll evaders.
Official said that over the years, the tax evaders have adopted different methods and ways of smuggling cement into the State but strict vigil and monitoring by Excise Sleuths have thwarted all such ill designs.
Teams of Toll Post Lakhanpur led by Excise and Taxation officers Sandeep Gupta, Abhishake Abrol, Suresh Sharma, Aamir Ayaiz Rather, Varinder Gupta Inspector Dheeraj Kumar, Sub-Inspectors Kanwaljeet Shan, Ravi Kumar, Manvinder Singh and Sheikh Touseef, Excise Guards Mohd Rafi, Mohammad Shakeel, Naresh Kumar, Rajesh Kumar laid nakas in the wee hours of morning and late night hours at various points bordering Punjab State and successfully intercepted vehicles laden with Cement without payment of Toll.
Talat Parvez Rohella, Excise Commissioner, J&K Government has lauded the enforcement work undertaken by Toll Post Lakhanpur and has personally appreciated all the Team Members for this excellent performance. Shri Ashish Kumar Gupta, Deputy Excise Commissioner, Toll Post, Lakhanpur has assured that these enforcement activities will continue with same zeal and enthusiasm to defeat the nefarious designs of all such evaders in the due course.
