Srinagar, Sep 22 : Restrictions imposed as a precautionary measure in the Down town and parts of civil lines in Srinagar to prevent “ Tazia Processions” have been lifted and life returned to normal on Saturday.
There are no restrictions in any part of the city, a police spokesperson said.
Restrictions were imposed in the Down town and some areas in the civil lines on Friday , including Lal Chowk, to prevent ‘Tazia processions’ which are banned since 1989 for security reasons. However, processions were taken out in other parts of the valley, including Srinagar outskirts and central Kashmir district of Badgam.
The Jamia Masjid, which was closed due to the restrictions is open for worship and Jamia market was also functional.
All road blocked to Abi Guzar Imambara in the civil lines have been lifted.
Similarly, closed with barbed wire and by parking bullet proof vehicles in the middle in other areas of the civil lines are also open.
Additional security forces and state police personnel deployed on the main Nallahmar road have been withdrawn.UNI
