Srinagar:The Islamia College of Science and Commerce through its Cultural Committee organized a lecture-series on theme “Hussain (As)!. The victorious martyr of Karbala” today on 25th Sept 2018/14th Muharam 1440 Hijri.
The programme began with a humble introduction and welcome by Prof. Uheeda Shah, Convenor Cultural Committee.
The principal of the college Prof. (Dr Yaseen Ahmad Shah formally welcomed the guest speakers, Hourable Justice Bashir Ahmad Karmani, Former Justice J&K High Court and honourable Justice Hakeem Imtiyaz Hussain ,Former Justice J&K High Court and the audience.
Dr Yaseen spoke about the need of the hour that is– to uphold the ideals of truth, brotherhood and human values.
He stressed upon the need of organizing such and many more programmes for students to acquaint them with the basic human values. Justice Bashir Ahmad Kirmani made the audience spell-bound and deliberated threadbare on the theme of Hussainiyat—martyrdom and victory and related it beautifully to the present times …falsehood and deceit within ourselves- the self which needs to be cleansed and purified.
Justice Hakeem Imtiyaz Hussain deliberated upon “Shahadaat of Hussain, the battle of Karbala and how Hussain, the Martyr emerged victorious.
His thought provoking and eloquent lecture mesmerized the audience.
In the end a vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Majid Dar, staff secretary of the college.
