Train service suspended in Kashmir for security reasons

Srinagar, Oct 8: Train services were suspended on Monday for security reasons in the Kashmir valley, where separatists have called for a general strike on the first of the four phased Urban Local Bodies (UBL) and Panchayat polling today.
We have suspended all train runs in the Kashmir valley after an advisory was received from police last night, a senior railway official told UNI.
He said no train will chug on Budgam-Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region. Similarly, no train will chug on Srinagar-Badgam and Baramulla in north Kashmir, he said.
We are witnessing heavy rush of passengers in the morning every Monday when people are resuming their normal business and duties after Sunday, he said.
He said we are acting on the advice of police and railway officials.
He also said train will be resumed only after receiving green signal from police and divisional authorities. UNI
