Season’s first snowfall shuts Kupwara-Karnah, Bandipora-Gurez roads

Power, water facilities hit in snow hit areas

Srinagar, Oct 16: One feet snow on Sadhna top on Karnah-Kupwara road and few inches of snow on Bandipora-Gurez road has disconnected the snow hit areas in north Kashmir districts.
According to the KNS correspondent, one feet snow in Karnah area has shut Karnah-Kupwara road and life has come to a standstill in Karnah area of Kupwara district. Reports said that 35kv transmission line has been damaged during the snowing and locals say that it will take few days for the PDD officials to reappear the transmission line after they move out to restore the power services in the area.
Schools and offices are closed and power and water facilities have been disrupted. Few inches of snow have also been witnessed in Gurez and Dawar areas of Bandipora district and Bandipora-Gurez road has been closed for vehicular traffic. Sonamarg area has also received few inches of snowfall and life there also has collapsed after the season’s first snowfall. (KNS)
