Spontaneous shutdown against Fateh Kadal killings hits normal life across Srinagar

Mobile internet service shut, schools & colleges closed

Srinagar, Oct 17: A spontaneous shutdown in Srinagar against the killing of militants and Fateh Kadal house owner’s son at Fateh Kadal crippled normal life across Srinagar minutes after the news about the killings spread.
Reports said soon after the news about the killing of two militants and the son of a house owner in Fateh Kadal area of old Srinagar city a spontaneous shutdown against the killings hit normal life across Srinagar. Law enforcing authorities suspended mobile internet services and closed all schools and colleges in Srinagar. Clashes broke out in several parts of uptown Srinagar and old parts of summer capital soon after the gunfight was over. Government forces fought pitched battles with the angered protesters at Hari Singh High Street, Khanyar, Soura and adjoining localities. No reports of any injury to any civilian were reported from any part of the Srinagar city.
Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Additional Director General Police law and order and security Muneer Ahmad Khan said the situation is under control. (KNS)
