Refrain from visiting encounter sites till area is properly sanitized: DGP

Says “police want collateral damage free operations”

Srinagar, Oct 22 : The state police chief, Dilbagh Singh on Monday
asked people especially youth to refrain from visiting the encounter
sites till the area is not sanitized properly.
According to KNS correspondent, Director General of Police (DGP) said
that the police want collateral damage free operations here, thus have
been appealing people continuously to stay away from the gunfight
sites here.
He said people must understand the appeal of forces. “There are
apprehensions of explosions and other related things at gunfight sites
till the place is not sanitized. We want to avoid Kulgam like
incidents, thus appeal people to refrain from visiting gunfight sites
till the area is not sanitized properly,” he said.
“We also express solidarity with the six bereaved families whose
beloved died in an explosion at Kulgam gunfight site,” he said.
Earlier, seven civilians were killed in an explosion that took place
after a gunfight between forces and militants in Laroo area of Kulgam
district in which three Jaish-e-Muhammad militants were killed on
Sunday.
