We’re losing educated youth to Delhi’s arrogance, says Mirwaiz

Srinagar, Oct 24: Paying rich tributes to scholar-turned-militant Dr. Sabzar Sofi and his aide Asif Gojri who were killed in an encounter at Nowgam Srinagar, Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Wednesday said that each day we are losing educated youth to the “obduracy and arrogance” of New Delhi.

In a statement issued to KPS, Mirwaiz said New Delhi does not want to resolve the Kashmir dispute but instead resorts to subjugation and repression, forcing our youth to a path of armed resistance and martyrdom.

He strongly condemned the use of force against mourners carrying the bodies of the slain and termed it the height of inhumanity and cruelty.

Meanwhile, a Hurriyat (M) spokesperson has strongly denounced repeated the CASOs especially in south Kashmir and condemned the arrest of dozens of students in Kupwara’s Natnoosa area last week.

“Forces have put the career of these students at a stake by prolonging their detention,” he said and castigated the government for intensified frisking and search operations across the length and breadth of Kashmir especially on highways and major towns.

The spokesperson termed the continuous house detention of amalgam chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, senior resistance leader Syed Ali Geelani and arrest of JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik and other leaders including Engineer Hilal Ahmed War, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza as “frustration and vendetta” on part of government and its forces.

The crackdown on the resistance camp is the “worst form of autocracy and revenge”, he said.
