Killing youth by forces has become a routine: Hurriyat (M)
Srinagar, Oct 25: Paying tributes to four militants killed in two separate encounters with forces, at Kreeri, Baramulla and Arwani, Bijbehara on Thursday, Hurriyat Conference (M) has said that every day’s dance of death has exposed the GoI’s real face in Kashmir.
“The state terrorism is on full display with forces making the killing of Kashmiri youth under operation all-out as their regular feature,” a Hurriyat (M) spokesperson said in a statement issued to KPS.
He said the “ultimate repression” is also on to push the youth of Kashmir to the wall and leave them with no choice other than to choose armed means of resistance as their weapon to “fight the occupation”.
He added, “While the priceless sacrifices are being offered by the youth of Kashmir on all fronts, the GoI leaves no stone unturned to unleash the reign of terror by killing, maiming and thrashing the youth under the garb of CASO and instead of accepting the ground realities in Kashmir, the GoI is dealing with the situation through its military might to instill fear among the people and to force them into submission.”
The spokesperson said that of late, the situation has taken an ugly turn given the unabated increase in the killings, thrashing of youth and “anti-people” activities by forces. This is a cause of concern, he said.
He said peace won’t prevail in the region unless the Kashmir dispute is settled as per the wishes and aspirations of its people.
The spokesperson also strongly denounced the continuous house detention of amalgam chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq since past three weeks.
“The continuous house confinement of Mirwaiz can’t break the resolve of the resistance leadership; instead it would further strengthen their resolve to fight against oppression,” he said.
The amalgam said the arrest of many youth in nocturnal raids by forces in Shopian deserves all condemnation.
“Using iron fist policy against the youth will in no way resolve the issue; instead further deteriorate the situation,” the spokesperson said. (GNS)
