NHM employees in Ganderbal protest for long-pending demands

‘Resolve our issues else face state-wide agitation’

Ganderbal, Oct 25: On the call of All India NHM Union, the National Health Mission employees on Thursday observed a day-long strike and held a protest demonstration at this central Kashmir district.

The NHM employees are seeking redressal of their long pending demands including regularization of services.

Holding placards, scores of employees assembled outside the CMO Ganderbal and raised slogans in favor of their demands which include regularization of services, implementation of Supreme Court guidelines on equal pay for equal work and accord of pending commitments made to the employees by the government of J&K in January 2018.

Apart from regularization, the employees have been demanding leaves, EPF, NPS and other social security benefits at par with their regular colleagues.

“Most of the commitments made to the employees on 22 January 2018 by the then health minister remain unfulfilled till date, forcing us to endorse the strike call,” said Aijazz Bhat, vice president of the Ganderbal NHM Association.

The employees urged the authorities to initiate steps to redress their grievances with regard to job security, financial security and social security “so that we are able to put in our best and concerted efforts for achievement of objective of the (National Health) Mission”.

They also urged the government to fulfill their demands at the earliest else face a state-wide agitation.

The strike call was given All India NHM Karamchari Manch. (GNS)
