Detailed Report | Family of missing Sharda University student seek his whereabouts, Noida police claims student’s last location traced to Sopore

Srinagar (KPS):Ahtisham Bilal, a 23 year-old from Kashmir and a first year student of medical imaging technology at Greater Noida’s Sharda University, has gone missing since October 28.  Earlier, on October 4, Ahtisham was beaten by a group of students in the University premises.

Soon after he went missing, university authorities filed a missing report at the Knowledge Park Police Station while his father Bilal Sofi filed a separate complaint at the local police station of Khanyar, Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir.

The family members of a missing Kashmiri student of Sharda University on Wednesday staged a demonstration in this capital city demanding his whereabouts, while Noida police claims that the last location of the missing student was traced to north Kashmir’s Sopore.

Bilal Ahmad Sofi Father of missing student, Ahtisham Bilal said “Rejecting the saying of university authorities that Ahtisham had gone to visit his relative in Delhi, said “We don’t have any relative in Delhi. He said that he had last spoken to Ahtisham around 4:30 PM on October 28, when his son informed him that he had come to Delhi for a day trip and will go back in a while. Since then, his phone has been switched off.

Shabnum Ahtisham’s aunt, said that her nephew went missing on October 28, over three weeks after he was beaten up by local students at the University due to which he was hospitalized. “On Sunday, he went for outing to New Delhi. Throughout the day, he was in touch with his parents over phone. He told his father that he will send him the pictures he had clicked at different places. But by the evening, his phone was switched off and he went missing,” she said.

Before he went missing, Shabnum said Ahtisham called his cousin brother, also a student at the Sharda University that he was boarding a metro and that he will reach the hostel by 8:30pm.

“He didn’t reach hostel. We have no idea who kidnapped him. We have no idea if any agency has picked him up. We want to know where our son is,” she said.

Naseer Ahmad Quarashi Ahtisham’s Uncle, said “The family has filed a missing report with the police in Delhi. We have a fear that something has went wrong with our beloved son and request the concerned authorities to help us to trace our missing son”.

“Cause of grave concern that Ehtishaam Bilal, a student at Sharda University who was assaulted is reportedly missing. Family request Central, U.P and J&K governments to take note of it and direct the authorities to track him at the earliest. (KPS)
