Passengers stranded along Mughal road rescued: Police

Shopian: The district administration rescued all passengers who were stranded on alternate highway connecting Shopian in Kashmir with Poonch and Rajouri in Jammu.

A traffic police official told that all light motor and passenger vehicles including drivers were taken back to Shopian.

“Around 3 feet of snow has accumulated at the highway making vehicular movement difficult. So, we brought all the drivers of heavy vehicles back to Shopian. All light motor and passenger vehicles were brought to Shopian,” DySp traffic police Shopian, Mudasir Ahmad told.

He added that the operation was completed by 12 am today.

Meanwhile deputy commissioner Shopian, Owais Ahmad has issued an advisory asking people to not to travel on the road. He said that those who want to travel should contact control room based in Mini secretariat Shopian first.
