Kashmiris resist aggression, want to live with dignity: Sehrai

“UN should uphold its mandate, speak for peace and security”

Srinagar, Nov 04 (PR) : Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) Chairman Mohd Ashraf Sehrai on Sunday said that people in Kashmir are resisting aggression because people of Kashmir want a dignified and free life and, even while crying in sorrow, pain, and terror, “They are killing us all anyway—either a slow death by the siege, or a fast one by military attacks.
He said, the failure of the international community to intervene to protect Kashmiri people encourages India as the “occupying” authority to commit more “war crimes” against Kashmiris. These crimes will continue in the absence of accountability and will further encourage a culture of impunity in favor of India.
In a statement issued to KPS, TeH Chairman Mohd Ashraf Sehrai appealed world community to exert pressure on India to immediately stop its military aggression against the Kashmiri people, and to condemn such acts which are in blatant violation of international human rights and humanitarian law. We urge UN to uphold your mandate and credibility and “to speak and act for peace and security” and take all measures possible to ensure the safety and implementation of UN resolutions is favour of Kashmiris.
It is due time for the Kashmiri people to enjoy their right to self-determination as enshrined in international human rights law. The international community should exert all efforts towards Kashmir conflict to allow Kashmiris to enjoy their human rights and their right of free nation. And to end Indian military occupation, one of the most prolonged belligerent occupations in the world.
While Paying his glorious and painful tributes to the slain martyrs Irfan Ahmed Bhat and another civilian Shahid Manzoor Ahmed Wani in Shopian Khudpora, Sehrai said, the all out war has been launched with every lethal and internationally banned weaponry with the clear aim of dismantling the rights and to make Kashmiri people to submission at the barrel of gun and destruction,
Sehrai in his statement said under their military operation “Indian occupation forces continue their random siege and shelling using internationally banned weapons resulting in high casualties among the Kashmiri civilians, especially among children, women and the elderly. Simultaneously, Indian Army chief’s belligerence is further threatening to expand the scope of its military operations which will further exacerbate the human rights and humanitarian situation and cause serious additional casualties among Kashmiri civilians thereby threatening the safety and well-being of oppressed Kashmiris.
