Dr Bari targeted for exposing corruption, RTI Movement demands revocation of FIR

Srinagar (PR): Jammu & Kashmir RTI Movement has demanded that FIR filed against Dr Abdul Bari a college teacher from Kulgam be revoked. Chairman of RTI Movement Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat has appealed Governor that Dr Bari has been on the forefront against corruption and if people like him are targeted by Government , people will have no faith in the rule of law.

“ Police has booked Dr Bari Naik an Assistant Professor in Govt Degree College (GDC) Kulgam, accusing him of instigating violence in the college while as the reality is that Dr Bari has been using RTI Act to expose corrupt practices in the district. Recently he filed an RTI in DC office regarding selection process adopted for appointment as Rehber e Khel (ReK) . This has infuriated some senior officers of the district administration. We appeal Governor to intervene, get FIR revoked  and probe into the whole issue of ReK appointments “ reads RTI Movement statement

Dr Raja Muzaffar further said that it is an irony that inspite of Principal GDC Kulgam giving clean chit to Dr Bari Naik, authorities have booked him like a 3rd grade criminal. Dr Brai is an efficent and upright teacher who is an asset of our society

“Such acts of authorities will further create a wedge between youth particularly the educated youth and authorities. On one side Govt brings J&K Bank under RTI ambit for ensuring transparency in this bank but when the same law is used by honest and public spirited citizens they are treated like criminals and booked by police “  statement added
