Jammu, Dec 3: Three narcotic smugglers were arrested with contraband of poppy straw in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Based on reliable information, police laid a naka at Jakheni for checking of vehicles and during frisking, police on Sunday night stopped truck (JK03B-9363) which was subjected to thorough search,” SSP Udhampur Rayees Mohammad Bhat here said.
He said that during search, 420 kg poppy straw was recovered from the vehicle, adding that three persons identified as Sukhwinder Singh of Philore, Jalandhar Punjab, his brother Lakhwinder Singh and Vikram Singh, were arrested on the spot.
However, a case under NDPS Act was registered and investigations started.
