Army pays tribute to slain soldier

Srinagar, Dec 7: Army paid tribute to Late Gunner Rajesh Kumar who was killed at Line of Control in Machil Sector of Kupwara district on Thursday.

    In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt Lt Gen AK Bhatt, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks paid homage to the slain soldier.

            Late Gunner Rajesh Kumar sustained bullet injuries during ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the Line of Control in Machil sector. He was provided immediate first aid and evacuated to 92 Base Hospital, but unfortunately he succumbed to his injuries.

       Late Gunner Rajesh Kumar, was 25 years old and had joined the Army in 2013. He belonged to Village Rejua of Jalesar Tehsil in Etah District of Uttar Pradesh and is survived by his parents and wife.

            The mortal remains of the soldier were flown for last rites to his native place, where he would be laid to rest with full military honours.
