India, Iceland pledge to enhance cooperation in trade, investment and blue economy
New Delhi, Dec 8 India and Iceland on Saturday pledged to enhance cooperation in trade and investment as well as blue economy with a focus on fisheries and tourism.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and her Iceland counterpart Gudlaugur Thor Thordarson held discussion on enhancing cooperation in trade and investment, renewable energy, specially geothermal energy, blue economy with a focus on fisheries, tourism and culture at the delegation-level talks, MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar tweeted.
“Heralding a new chapter in friendly ties. EAM Sushma Swaraj received Iceland’s Foreign Minister Gudlaugur Thor on his 1st visit to India. He arrived on board the inaugural direct flight between the two capitals. EAM congratulated Finance Minister on Iceland’s centennial year of Home Rule,” Mr Kumar wrote in the micro blogging site.
“Iceland is a world leader in geothermal energy and cooperation in this sector could benefit our transition to greener energy mix and help in achieving our ambitious renewable energy targets,” he said.
