Corruption ‘compelling youth to join militancy’: MP Laway

Srinagar, Dec 27 : Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and senior PDP leader, Nazir Ahmad Laway on Thursday alleged that the corruption has compelled youth to join militant ranks.
Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Laway said that the senior officers who are corrupt are responsible for the youth joining militant ranks. “The corruption in Kulgam and others districts is at peak and the youth are being pushing to the walls, thus compelling them to join the militant ranks,” he said.
He added that the corrupt senior officers are harassing the youth, who don’t see their future anywhere. “I presided over a meeting today in Kulgam in which the officers from different departments were present and I pledge to eradicate the corruption and the names of the corrupt officers will be made public soon,” he added.
Laway further said there is a need to eradicate the corruption so that the educated youth who are being compelled to join the militant ranks could heave a sigh of relief.
“The youth in the Valley are not getting benefits of the schemes meant for them,” he said, adding that the educated youth must get benefits of all the schemes meant for them.
He added that he will approach to the Governor Satya Pal Malik and other officers in this to highlight the sufferings of youth and to eradicate the corruption here.
