MeT predicts light precipitation for first week of January
“No further dip in mercury”
Srinagar : Amid drastic dip in mercury over past few days in Valley, met has predict light precipitation in the form of rain and snow in the first week of January.
While speaking to Valley Media Service, MeT official said that in the extended weather forecast there are healthy chances of precipitation in January at regular intervals.
“From first of January to 3rd, there is a prediction of precipitation in the valley and in the extended forecast the valley will experience snow and rain throughout January”, he said.
The Met official said that there was more than expected drop in mercury tonight “The reason is that the sky remained largely clear due to a low pressure zone over Tibetan plateau. There won’t further dip in mercury in coming days”, he added.
With a further dip in mercury Srinagar on Thursday recorded the coldest December night in 28 years at minus 7.6 degrees Celsius.
