Video Report | UK based NGO ‘Orphans in Need’ distributed about 1000 winter blankets among orphans, widows in Budgam

Aim to distribute these blankets annually is to help the beneficiaries to withstand the harsh winter

Srinagar: A UK based Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), ‘Orphans in Need’ distributed about 2000 winter blankets among orphans and widows at Bait ul Salaam, Ompora, Budgam on Thursday.

The organization distributes these blankets annually to help the beneficiaries to withstand the harsh winter.

Orphans In Need is working under the chairmanship of Sheikh Anis Musa who is basically from Gujrat, owns his business at the United Kingdom and arranges funds for the organization from his business company, ICS (UK) LTD.

Whereas Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar Deputy Commissioner Budgam (IAS) parrcipated as Chief Guest on the ocassion.

Whereas Chief guest during her speech thanked the organization for arranging such fruitful programs for orphans and widow’s, government is also working for the help of needy people which gets boosted by such organizations, DC added

The occasion started at 11, with recitation of Quranic verses, followed by Naat e Sharif and speeches from the guests. After which, the distribution of blankets persisted for the whole day in which two thousand orphans from far-flung areas like Uri, Kupwara, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Budgam, Shopian and Sringar were given the winter blankets

The distribution function was held at Ompora Budgam. In which Operations Manager Reyaz Sheikh while talking to media said more than 2000 Orphans in Jammu and Kashmir are benefited of Rs 1500 per month besides these blankets

Sheikh said, “The children must educate themselves with whatever is being provided. We will always support them but they will have to work for themselves.”

The organisation sponsors orphans and helps them with their education, sanitation, clothing, food and medical care. The widows also get benefitted by the food parcels (ration) provided by the organisation

“Round the world, we are serving 20 thousand orphans, two thousand from Kashmir, out of which are 1000 from Srinagar. We conduct exams of these kids to ensure that they are on the right track.” sheikh added.

In collaboration with local organizations like Jammu and Kashmir Yateem Trust, where from the data regarding orphans is sought; ‘OIN’ has been providing funding to orphaned children in Kashmir for more than six years.

‘OIN’ has won awards like British Muslim Award and Muslim Charity of the Year Award 2015 (United Kingdom), Global Peace and Unity award for the Best Child Sponsorship Charity 2013 (United Kingdom).
