Srinagar: Five residential houses were damaged on Wednesday afternoon in a devastating fire incident in Dal-Hassanyar area of Habbakadal in Srinagar.

Reports said that fire broke out around 1:00 Pm today, resulting in damage to five residential houses belonging to Abdul Razaq Hazari, Bilal Ahmad Hazari, Imtiyaz Ahmad, Mohammad Sayeed Bhat, Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, all residents of Dalhassanyar area of Habbakadal Srinagar.

An official from Fire and Emergency department said that they received information around 1:51 pm, and soon rushed to the spot to douse off the flames. However, with the timely action by locals and fire and emergency men, the devastating fire was stopped to spread into the adjacent houses.

Earlier, media reports suggested that six houses were damaged; however, an official from the fire brigade department confirmed the damage of only five residential houses.
