Srinagar, Jan 07: Taking cognizance of a report appearing in a local daily of Srinagar regarding arrest and detention of 14 years old Faisal from Aripal, Tral. Justice Masoodi has addressed a communication to Principal Secretary, Home Department and A.G Mir, ADGP (Nodal Officer under JJ Act) asked for their intervention in the matter and for ensuring that the Juvenile is let off immediately.
Justice Masoodi emphasized that the arrest and detention of the boy in the police Station is on the face of it gross violation of Juvenile Justice Act and therefore forbidden under law.
Justice Masoodi asked them to direct an enquiry into the matter and if the allegation on such enquiry is found true, to deal with the erring officer in accordance with law.
It has been reiterated that by an appropriate circular the police be directed to desist from arresting and detaining any Juvenile in future.
