Hurriyat (M) condemns army’s continuous ‘harassment’ of people

Srinagar, Jan 8 (PR) Hurriyat Conference (M) has strongly condemned the continuous “harassment” of people by armed forces.

A Hurriyat (M) spokesperson in a statement issued to KPS said, “Armed forces are collectively punishing the people and have unleashed a reign of terror across Kashmir especially South Kashmir by launching frequent CASOs wherein people of all ages including elderly, women and children are asked to stay out of their house in the biting cold for hours together, youth harassed and arrested.”

He said that authorities through their “repressive measures” have pushed Kashmiri youth to the wall and despite “ultimate repression”, GoI has failed to break to resolve of the freedom loving people of Kashmir.

The spokesperson paid glowing tributes to armed youth Irfan Ahmed Rather who was killed in a gunfight at Litter, Pulwama. He said the sacrifices are being offered for the cause of right to self-determination and its time that leadership and the people stand united and pursue the cause with great vigour and zeal.

The Hurriyat (M) spokesperson strongly condemned the continuous detention of amalgam’s senior leader Mukhtar Ahmed Waza since past one week.

He termed Waza’s detention as undemocratic, saying he is being frequently lodged in the police station and not allowed to carry his political and social activity.

“Keeping activists and youth caged in police stations is now a new norm of the authorities as they deny all possible space to the resistance leadership and youth to present their point of view,” he said.
