Taking to Twitter after the 2009 IAS topper resigned from the service to protest over the “unabated killings” in Kashmir, Mirwaiz said Faesal’s sentiment that “Kashmiri lives matter” will guide Faesal to represent his people’s (Kashmiris) collective deep driving desire to right to self-determination.

Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Wednesday welcomed the resignation of IAS topper from Kashmir Shah Faesal, hoping his “outrage over Kashmir killings will guide his choice of politics and gets reflected in representing his people’s desire of right to self-determination.”

“Welcome the stand to resign by @ShahFaesal to protest unabated killing of Kashmiris by GOI. Hope his outrage over killings and his sentiment that #KashmiriLivesMatter guide his choice of politics and gets reflected in representing his people’s collective deep driving desire of right to self-determination and their relentless struggle and sacrifice in achieving it – also the reason behind killings and repression on them by the state,” Mirwaiz wrote on his twitter handle.
