PM Modi to visit Kerala on Tuesday

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 14 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will offer prayers at Sri Padmanabha Swamy temple here between 1920 hrs and 1940 hrs on Tuesday.
During the visit, the Prime Minister will inaugurate various facilities, which are being completed under Tourism Ministry’s Swadesh Darshan Scheme, at the East Nada, Union Minister of State for Tourism Alphons Kannanthanam told a press conference here on Monday.
The construction of the heritage walk footpath, renovation of Padmatheertha Pond, electrification, bio toilets, bathrooms, security systems, software for digital museum among other things are being completed under Swadesh Darshan project with an expenditure of Rs 75.88 crore, he said.
On several sanctioned projects in Kerala, the Union Minister said Rs 85.23 crore has been sanctioned for development of spiritual circuit-III, covering 133 religious places connecting Kasaragod, Wayanad, Kannur, Kozhikode, Palakkad, Malappuram, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Idukki, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram.
The destinations have been selected keeping in view the inherent historic, cultural and religious significance of the places, the Minister said.
The major interventions which are sanctioned in the circuit are Annadhana Mandapam, Community Hall, Multipurpose Hall, toilets, cafeteria, parking space, landscaping, pathways, illumination of the campus, signage dustbins among others, he added.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Kollam Bypass funded by the Centre and later address a BJP rally in Kollam on the day.
Kerala Governor Justice (Retd) P Sathasivam, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Union Minister of State for Tourism Alphons Kannanthanam, Union Tourism Secretary Yogendra Tripathi, Kerala Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran, Shashi Tharoor MP, VS Shivakumar MLA and City Corporation Mayor VK Prashanth will attend the function.
In his second visit to Kerala on January 27, Narendra Modi is likely to address the state conference of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha in Thrissur, party sources added.
Aimed to gear up the party machinery for the parliament elections next year, BJP National President Amit Shah is likely to address public meetings in Kerala in the coming days.
Moreover, the State BJP leaders are of the opinion that the political climate in the state has changed as the party workers from the grassroots-level are actively participating in the agitations over the Sabarimala issue.
