Chennai, Jan 17 Twelve top performing Parliamentarians
would be presented with the Sansad Ratna Awards by the city
based NGO Prime Point Foundation (PPF) and eMagazine
PreSense on January 19.
They included nine Lok Sabha MPs, one Standing Committee
from the 16th Lok Sabha and two retired Rajya Sabha Members,
for their outstanding performance.
The awards will be presented by Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal
Purohit during the 10th edition of awards to be held at Durbar Hall
of Raj Bhavan in the presence of Union Minister of State for Home
Hansraj Ahir and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun
Ram Meghwal.
PPF Chairman and Sansad Ratna Awards Founder K Srinivasan, in
a release here on Thursday said, “the award winners are selected
by a Jury of eminent Parliamentarians in a transparent manner
based on the performance data provided by Lok Sabha Secretariat
and PRS Legislative Research.’
The awards were instituted in 2010 on the suggestion of Former
President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, who himself launched the first edition
in May 2010, with the objective of recognising and celebrating the top
performers of the Parliament.
