PM Modi holds bilateral talks with visiting South African Prez Ramaphosa

New Delhi, Jan 25 Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held bilateral talks with the visiting South African President Cyril Ramaphosa here.
“New beginnings to old partnerships. PM Narendra Modi warmly welcomes President of South
Africa Cyril Ramaphosa ahead of delegation level talks,” MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar tweeted.
“This is their fourth meeting within a year, highlighting enhanced engagement with South Africa and the African continent,” the spokesman wrote.

Earlier, Mr Ramaphosa was accorded ceremonial welcome by President Ram Nath Kovind and PM Mr Modi.
The South African President also inspected the Guard of Honour.
President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa arrived here on Friday on a two-day State Visit to India.
He will be the State Guest of Honour for the Republic Day parade on Saturday.
“Special occasion. Special friend. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa is received by Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on his 1st State visit to India after assuming office -accompanied by First Lady and a high level delegation. He is the Guest of Honour for 70th Republic Day celebrations,” MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar tweeted.
President Ramaphosa is here at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The visit is expected to further strengthen and enhance the close relationship between India and South Africa,” an MEA statement said here.
Mr Ramaphosa is the second President of South Africa after President Nelson Mandela to be the Chief Guest at the Republic Day. h
