GST Evasion : State Taxes Department , Kashmir Recovered Rs.6.30 Lacs As Penalty From Defaulting Dealers
Srinagar: Continuing with the drive against the tax defaulters , the enforcement team led by Additional Commissioner , State Taxes ( Administration & Enforcement ) Kashmir , Mr. Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, KAS, under the instructions of Commissioner State Taxes, J&K, Mr. P.K Bhat conducted an extensive inspection of business units at North Srinagar mainly comprising areas of Sheltang , Maloora and adjacent areas. The main Business units of the area were inspected and sales records of some of the units, which were seized for scrutiny in view of noticing some suspicious tendencies of evasion of tax includes M/s Bagdadi Bakers , M/s Raheek Sales Corporation , M/s Raheek Multinational and M/s North Kashmir Sales. The inspection team also seized five (5) computer laptops , besides, the business related malfide accounting software . An amount of Rs.6.30 Lacs as tax, interest and penalty has also been realised from other defaulting dealers .
The Inspecting team included State Tax Officers namely Mr Mohammad Muneer Bhat , Mr. Majeed ul Islam , Mr Syed Faheem Bahaqi , Mr. Ovais Mushtaq , Dr. Irfan Ali Khan , Mr. Abdul Raouf Shah and Mr Khalid Mohammad Chesti, along with Inspectors and other officials of the Department. All the Business establishment inspected were exhorted to implement the GST Laws in letter and spirit to further avoid initiation of penalty proceedings against them. The response of the traders and General public to the team was conducive and warming.
State Taxes department, through this publication, advises the dealers to avoid using dishonest practices for evasion of tax and are requested to adhere to the provisions of the GST Act, 2017 and the rules framed there under, strictly in letter and spirit.
