January 29: Kulgam police solved a blind murder case and arrested the accused person.mOn 17th of January, Police received an information that a Gas Tanker bearing registration number R114BF 8192 met with an accident near Titanic Point (Glass Tower) on NHW 44. A seriously injured driver namely Naseeb Singh son of Gori Singh R/O Kathua who was brought to Emergency Hospital Qazigund and later succumbed to his injuries on the way after being referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar.
On this Police Station Qazigund registered a case FIR No. 09/2019 under relevant sections of law and investigation was started.
During the initial physical examination of dead body, Police developed some suspicion of foul play and it did not appear to be a case of accident. A detailed postmortem of deceased was got conducted from a board of doctors.
On further in-depth investigating, it came to fore that in-fact the driver of gas tanker was beaten ruthlessly by an accused driver of a truck bearing registration number JK03G 3817 and gas tanker was deliberately allowed to fall in a deep gorge to make it appear as an accident case.
On the directions of SSP Kulgam, a specially constituted team of Police Station Qazigund under the command of SDPO Qazigund Shri Iftikhar Talib apprehended the accused driver and also seized the truck bearing registration number JK03G 3817. The accused driver has confessed the crime.
