Nine years on, justice eludes Wamiq Farooq’s family: Mirwaiz
Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Monday said justice continues to elude the family of 7th standard student Wamiq Farooq who was killed after a tear gas shell fired by the police hit him in Old Srinagar city in 2010.
Taking to Twitter, Mirwaiz said despite passing of nine years into the killing of Wamiq Farooq ‘justice still eludes Wamiq till this day.’13 year old, class 7 student Wamiq Farooq, killed when a teargas shell fired by police hit him nine years ago, justice eludes him till this day! His grieved father and many others like him relentlessly continue their fight to seek justice for the brutal killings of their loved ones,” Mirwaiz tweeted on the ninth death anniversary of FarooqWamiq Farooq’s death in January 2010 was the beginning of a year of deadly clashes between government forces and stone-throwing protesters. At least 100 people were killed after forces opened fire during 2010 uprising.
