Ganderbal 5 Jan: The residents of Tullamulla Tehsil of Ganderbal district are complaining that the vast area lacks a fire service station.

Over the years, the fire incidents have damaged residential houses and cow sheds at major level which were reported from as many villages of the Tehsil including tourist village Tullamulla.

“Almost every time there is a fire, we either succeed to control it ourselves or else the huge properties get damaged before the fire tenders reach,” said a local Mudasir Ahmad of Sehpora village.

Tullamulla village is one of the largest village of the Ganderbal district and the biggest background reflected by the temple of Mata Khirbhawani and Ziyarat Hazrat Mir Baba Hyder (RAH) (“The Village of saints”) and many government offices are present in the Tullamulla area but there are no fire tender station in the area. The nearest fire stations catering the area are at Ganderbal and Lar but they cannot reach in time when any incident happens,” said Showkat Ahmad, a resident of the area.

“If they construct fire station in the area that will cater to many areas. Last winter many fire incidents took place in the area and in every incident fire tenders reached the spot at least an hour late,” a local Reyaz Ahmad said. He added that there was no fire gap between houses at many places which makes fire incident dangerous.

We have been raising the demand for the past many years. But concerned authorities have failed to address the issue till date,” Gh Hassan a member of local Awami Behbood Committee said.

The residents have again requested the Governor Administration to sanction a fire station at Tullamulla so  that they will not suffer further.
